My thoughts are not your thoughts*
Around the country students will either be returning to their studies at university or college, or beginning for the first time. It is an exciting time, but also one full of emotion.
If you are stepping out to university or college for the first time, go gently on yourselves. Remember that God is waiting to welcome you, wherever you are.
As well as connecting with your course-mates, remember to reach out to your Chaplaincy/Faith Support service on campus and if your university does not have one, get in touch with your parish/diocese so they can support you.
Remember, we all have plans of how things should go, but be heartened by the first reading from the Mass this Sunday when we hear in the book of Isaiah:
“for my thoughts are not your thoughts,
my ways not your ways – it is the Lord who speaks.”
So be gently on yourself, if things begin to be different than you thought or not work out as you expected, be certain that God is with you on the journey and reach out to those who are there to walk with you on the journey. No one is beyond a new start, nor excluded from the love of God.
